Communications Division Opportunities
|
We offer both full-time and part-time positions in our Communications Division. Positions include customer service representatives who answer phones and book trips for our customers, and dispatchers who interact with drivers to preserve the smooth flow of timely arrivals of our vehicles.

Paratransit (Wheelchair van) Drivers
|
Our paratransit drivers are trained to safely transport passengers in wheelchairs to their destinations, including doctor’s appointments, dialysis centers, stores—just about anywhere they need to go. All paratransit drivers are also cross-trained to transport non-wheelchair passengers.
All paratransit drivers must meet state and federal requirements and must successfully pass criminal background checks, drug and alcohol testing, and driving record checks. Drivers must also acquire a license from the city of Toledo.
We provide extensive training, including first aid and CPR instruction, classes on the proper handling of seniors and disabled persons, and on-the-job training with an experienced paratransit driver.

Luxury Sedan Drivers
|
We currently offer part-time positions to those interested in providing the very best in luxury sedan transportation to those who want to ride in style to the airport, to important events such as weddings, or for an elegant night out on the town.
A license issued by the city of Toledo is among the requirements for these positions.

Taxicab Drivers
|
The taxicabs that operate with our distinctive and widely familiar logo are owned by independent contractors, and those who drive the taxicabs are self-employed persons working for those owners.
Of course, to continue the respected reputation Black and White has earned over the years, we must ensure taxicab drivers meet and maintain the rigid standards we have adopted.
The first step to becoming a taxicab driver is taking a test that measures certain skills we look for in prospective drivers. After passing the test, we encourage the prospective driver to apply for the license required by the city of Toledo.
Meanwhile, we meet with driver candidates during an interview process designed to continue the process of identifying those qualified. Time spent in our Dispatch Center and completion of a class to teach drivers certain aspects of the job (for which a nominal fee is charged) are also requirements prior to drivers being cleared by the company.
Some prospective drivers already have contacted taxicab owners and have made arrangements for a driver position. We can also put prospective drivers in touch with owners who are looking for drivers.
